Letters from Gaius is a product aimed at Parents, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunties and carers who want the children they love to know more about the significance and power of the nativity story, without relying on tablets and phones.

In the fictional world of Letters from Gaius, Professor Alexander (Sandy) Trowel was excavating a cave in the Holy Land when he discovered a large clay jar full of scrolls. These scrolls turned out to be letters from Gaius - the Centurion at the cross - to his son, Lucius. The letters record Gaius' journey of discovery as he explores the Christian faith (which he has now joined) and especially the events leading up to the birth of the Saviour of the world.

Professor Trowel is the inventor of a piece of technology that replicates the scrolls but with all the text translated to English. He has then pencilled his own notes, maps and diagrams in the margins of the translated scrolls. He has also annotated the text with references to the relevant Bible passages.

The Letters from Gaius product contains 25 of these translated scrolls - one for each day of Advent, plus one for Christmas Day. There is also a personalised letter from Professor Trowel, to the children you are buying for, introducing the letters and how to read them. There is another from the Professor to your children for Christmas day and a letter from him to you, explaining how to use the letters.

The letters are presented in a beautiful craft cardboard storage box so you can keep them and use them again.

The idea is that you hide one letter*, each day of advent, for your children to find. Once they have found it, you sit and read it together with them and also read the relevant bible passages. You can also spend time reading the historical notes, looking at the maps and charts and talking about the characters.

You will meet Gaius the Centurion, Dorothea - his wife, Lucius - his son (serving in the cavalry in Caesarea) and Magnus - their cat (quite possibly the naughtiest cat in Jerusalem)

PLEASE NOTE
Although they are works of fiction, the letters are Biblically and historically accurate and are designed to guide young people towards the bible; not to replace it.
