These chocolate nests are the perfect Easter treat and the easy-to-make recipe means that you can even get the children to help!!
Ingredients
For the topping - Divine milk chocolate speckled mini eggs
Method
1. Crush the shredded wheat biscuits in a large bowl and leave to one side.
2. Place the butter and syrup in a pan and heat gently, stirring occasionally, until the butter is melted.
3. Add the chopped chocolate to the pan. Stir until the chocolate is melted into the butter/syrup mix.
4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the crushed shredded wheat and mix until combined.
5. Using a tablespoon, scoop the mixture onto a lined tray and shape into nests or scoop into paper cupcake cases
6. Top with the speckled mini eggs (we did 3 per nest) and chill in the fridge to set.
Recipe Tips
Butter - use block butter, margarine/butter-type spreads can split.
Cereal - we used shredded wheat as the closest thing to making these look like birds nests, but you could use cornflakes or rice crispies.
Once the nests are set, remove from the fridge - they'll last for around a week in an airtight container.
