Reducing Food Waste
Here at We Are Fair Trade we are committed to doing whatever we can to help reduce food waste.
Every year in the UK over 7 million tonnes of food is thrown away. It is estimated that as much as 10% of food waste is generated because of confusion around the way foods are date marked.
However, this is no reason to throw it away. Food that is past its ‘Best Before’ date is still perfectly safe to eat and will often taste just as good.
Rather than see this perfectly good food go in the bin we have decided that we should give our customers the chance to purchase it, at a reduced cost and make their own contribution to tackling the waste mountain!!
